stated in this letter before your selection

The appointment is under the Colonial
Government, and your emoluments will be
paid solely from the funds of the Colony.
5. If you are prepared to accept the
appointment on these conditions, you should
present yourself to one of the Medical
Advisers of this Department, whose names
are given on the enclosed letter, for the pur-
pose of being medically examined. The
letter is to be left with him; and you will
be required to pay him a fee of one guinea.
He will send his report direct to this
Department.
6. If finally selected for the proba-
tionary appointment, you will be provided
with a free
first class
passage to the Colony on your signing the
usual agreement with the Crown Agents for
the Colonies, Whitehall Gardens, S. W.. by
which you will be bound to repay to the
